Lounge

The lounge at The Cottage Hotel is decorated in an arts and crafts style offering a warm and inviting space, perfect for relaxation and unwinding after a day of exploring the beautiful Devon coastline.

At the heart of the lounge is a large fireplace, which adds both warmth and a cosy ambiance, especially in the winter months. The seating is designed for comfort, with plush armchairs and sofas arranged to encourage conversation or simply to enjoy the tranquil surroundings. Whether you're sipping a drink from the bar, reading a book, or just taking in the sea views, the lounge provides a homely and peaceful retreat.

Board games and jigsaws are available to borrow.

Cabin

The Cabin at The Cottage Hotel was salvaged from the famoush ship The Herzogin Cecilie. This four-masted windjammer, once one of the most famous and fastest sailing ships of its time, tragically ran aground in Soarmill Cove in 1906.

The remains of the ship were carefully salvaged, and parts of its interior now serve as a unique feature in The Cabin, preserving the memory of this historic vessel and adding a distinctive charm to the hotel. The story of The Herzogin Cecilie adds depth and character to The Cabin, making it a truly special place to relax and reflect and enjoy a drink.
