Dartmouth Castle has stood in a superb waterfront setting guarding the narrow entrance to the Dart Estuary over 600 years.
Visit Dartmouth Castle and enjoy splendid views across the estuary. You can also visit the church and the Castle Tearoom. Take the Castle Ferry from Dartmouth quayside along the banks of the River Dart to the landing stage close to the castle.
Dartmouth Castle is actually one of a pair of forts, the other being Kingswear Castle. Together they form the guard for the Dart Estuary.
The Gun Battery is the most substantial remaining part of the castle, and it still allows you to climb to the top to take in the breathtaking views. Sitting behind it is the Church of St. Petrox.
There are many winding passages to explore throughout the Castle and for those who feel brave there is also a Ghost Tour.
