What we can do to help
Although the Cottage Hotel was not specifically designed for disabled guests, we will endeavour to assist in any way possible to make our guests feel happy and comfortable in the given environment. There are procedures in place to ensure our guests' stay is a more enjoyable experience. Future plans will make the hotel more user friendly but being a small family-run hotel, these cannot be implemented overnight.
We do not have specific disabled facilities within the hotel (we do have portable ramps for the front door step, wheel chair for indoor use, suction grips for use in bathroom/shower, and a hearing loop.)
We are more suited to people with only ambulant disabilities, we do not have a lift at the hotel and access to toilets and ground floor rooms could prove difficult for people with more severe disabilities.
The ladies toilet has one small step up and the ground floor gents is three steps down and is small and not much room. We currently have no dedicated disabled facilities.
We have a portable ramp to overcome the two steps up to the main entrance.
To gain access to the ground floor rooms requires negotiating three steps, which are too wide for the use of a ramp. This may cause problems for wheelchair users.
Our restaurant is situated conveniently on the ground floor and is easily accessible, however the door to the restaurant is only 695mm wide and would therefore be difficult for large electric wheelchairs to access. We have a small wheelchair on site to counteract any problems.
There is a disabled car space close to the main entrance on our lower car park. Naturally, we offer to reserve car spaces in the car park for people with disabilities but have to be strict due to limited space. (If the Driver has the Blue Badge we can reserve a space, if not, we suggest dropping the disabled person at the front door then parking the car.)
Being an older building, bedrooms vary in terms of shape and size. However, many will be suitable for guests with minor disabilities so do please feel free to call us and let our Reception team assist you.
